I've used syba adapters before and they worked fine. Sometimes you have to get the drivers from them, I'd recommend you do a forum search on it quick to see if you find any known issues with it like drivers/config that don't work, etc. You might look at an external usb of some kind if you have any interest in using the ide drive in the future on another PC for deep storage/etc.

I'd have to say name after something you are interested in like movies/characters/gaming/sports/other hobbies/etc. My new TV insisted on naming itself after a room in my house which is really boring, but these days I guess I don't really care anyway lol. I much rather it stopped talking/selling to me and started playing tv content.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "People wanted to me go to school for tech but I went for business. Did I make the wrong choice?"

One thing about tech is it changes all the time, it has to be up to date. So if you had a tech degree you would need to get a job now if you wait you are out of date and need to take more training or classes, which you may have to do later as well. Business owners can make out but it is also a lot of stress and risk. At the place I work now the lights go out at 5 on a timer, the last small company job I had I never knew when quitting time was, sometimes the owners worked 12hr shifts all weekend to get a job done, sometimes I had to work Saturday but OT kept me from working Sundays. I hated not being able to plan a weekend, and those owners are far from rich lol. What kind of job do you want. Your best bet with a business degree might be to find a place you can move up, and get in the door. Without a specific skill/experience or knowing someone, you wont walk into a great position is my experience. However that degree leaves you open to do a lot of things, get another degree or certified with minimal classes because you already have the degree, not be restricted in promotions because you don't have it, etc. Normal people have to pay some dues but its all experience that adds up later when you work a lower position and the work is usually pretty easy. Either way its better to be working someplace than not. Or you can go into tech by getting certified in whatever so I'd say your options are still open.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Any way to opt out of taxes?"

You would have to look it up, you can claim more exemptions and it makes your check larger but eventually you owe more. Back when I was dumb enough to be self employed the limit was 500 in taxes you owed, then you had to pay that quarter. So decades ago I would have to start paying in the fall to stay under that. But an employer may not want to put too many exemptions on you, I don't know the rules for that. If you have to pay now you might be able to file an extension, or make payments, something like that. I would say find out and try to work with them because once you get on their radar you are stuck there.

I can't believe anyone is surprised, it looks to me that intel actually got it right and someone pulled the trigger. We been bombing and shooting stuff there for decades, I don't see this as any different. What really irritates me is how news coverage has gone to single story coverage now, and all other news stops. I have to look at other news outlets to find any news. Its to the point I am about to toss cable/major news outlets they are so political and lacking in news selection. All weekend they talk about this and after 3 minutes of showing a burned up truck, why should I miss the rest of the world doing news stuff? I don't get it. Its not that I don't care, its that they are not telling me anything more but still wasting my time.

Maybe you can call in every employee for an interview, so the info is correct, and make them wait a while. That should gain some points for you. Say you have to do HR correctly and verify, so EVERYONE will be coming to you for a while. I would certainly get it in writing you have to do this project, or recording, etc.

Oh yeah, and at that time you can have each of them sign a release to allow you to access all their personal information.

This stuff came out of the blue and changed our lives forever. If you need something to do this year consider people that have been hammered by something out of their control, even if its just a few nice words. It can make you appreciate how lucky you are. I so wish I spent the year at work complaining about something stupid every day.

All I'm saying is govt policy caused the wage gap to get this large. It worked before. While people like to come up with so many reasons for that and blame corporations and rich people.....both of those always been here and are part of capitalism. Sure they will do anything they can to get ahead, that is the idea! Competition makes for great productivity and innovation. I'm not saying all the comments are wrong, but when it comes to wage gap I'm saying its a lot about worker demand. It is only natural a company will use lower cost labor any time they can, so it is up to the government to control what happens there. If you care about your people you keep limits on that so you don't end up with everyone making $8/hour. If you don't care about the masses in your country you don't care how poor they get due to outsourced labor, at least not until it is you and yours getting the low wages. We only would need socialism in the US because the government screwed up that bad, and guess who would run the socialism and be able to screw it up with twice the power then. Yes, the same people.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Has capitalism gone too far?"

You are not getting my argument. I do agree there is a larger distribution problem here now, I'm just saying the rules/policy were changed to make people more poor and those rules do not apply to rich people. I don't think it is the job of government to decide and take rich people's money. They already pay more taxes and if you look closely you will see when rates were higher they had more loopholes also. I think it is in fact the government who made policy to make the masses more poor. You talk about govt evening things out, why trust them to do that when they created the problem. Or was that the plan all along. US govt got rid of competition for labor that kept wages higher, it was not all technology and changing times and all the other excuses people come up with. When you can't hire a worker, you pay more. Sure other factors come in like cost of healthcare...which the govt may have had a hand in also. That cost also makes it harder for a company to pay more.

And those billionaires say an extra 20% tax, really? See ya, I'm moving to some other place. And then you collect $0 dollars from them. And then maybe those billionaires put their money to work in another economy, not yours.

However the reason I would not change it is because the US did support the highest level of living, it is proof it is the best system. Why would you screw it up, what makes you think the US as socialist would be any less a failure than other socialist countries?

The liberals helped lower the standards of living here, the same people they will 'help' with socialist policy? Like all those union people that vanished? Send the job to China say goodbye to the union lol. I don't see how liberals have my best interest in mind, their track record is terrible.

The entire problem with socialist/communism government is they are too big, too controlling. They will zap the 2nd amendment and then all it takes is one evil group or person to get in control and you have a lot of dead people, or people with no rights whatever the case. That is the way it happened every time in history, that is why the US govt is purposely designed where no one group is in control....supposedly.

Its true when you start trade and everyone has a good pay scale, eventually people (or some people) make less and they can only afford to buy the cheapest products. It is supposed to be competition that evens things out, competition for workers and against other companies. You can't compete against $3/hr China wages, and when you let half of a car be made there including complex parts like drivetrains, you just got rid of a lot of high pay jobs. Or moving appliance factories to Mexico, I mean you don't need to worry about automation taking over in the US because that stuff is no longer made here. Labor intensive things like you talk about was the first things to move out, clothing/etc. But now China is going to build air liners because they have all our technology, we don't need any manufacturing here. We can hardly make military equipment here because everyone left. I'm just saying it went way to far and now you lowered the standard of living here. If you serve the people you don't lower the standard of living.

Run HWMonitor and see where your temps are at, even if you OC well if it throttles under load you are losing out. For a better cooler you can go larger air cooler or AIO cooler. For air it will be about it fitting, mostly fitting in the case as the big ones are pretty tall. Clearing memory can be an issue mostly if you have tall memory. AIO you have to mount the radiator someplace that depends on what case you have.

Should be, if you happen to get a triple fan version they are longer and some cases only fit so much length. That is usually the only issue with gpu fitting, and some cards are thicker and can cover the 2nd pcie that can be an issue if you need to use it.

The GTX 1660 is good the 1660Ti is better, the 1660 Super just came out and is almost a Ti but the price is better for what you get. Beyond that you are looking at a RX 5700, GTX 2060, GTX 2060 super, all above $300 generally. You could go with a RX 590 but its older and takes more power they are around 200, but the plain GTX 1660 is slightly better and the Super version is better yet and they take less power, less noise/heat than the older radeon cards.

Could be from x570, it has more lanes and they had more or less run out with x470 to the point that things were sharing lanes and disabling other things.

I would like an ITX, I really don't see why we are still using ATX from 1995. Its just weird when certain things get stuck in technology. What if we still had bag phones? But my new PC is just the common stuff you have to give up some things for ITX. I might get gutsy when I upgrade my 2400G and build an ITX system with it.

My guess is they could not fit the AMD hole pattern in that small board, it is small I like it.

The x570 is for the new generation 3000 series, and its bios works fine. Any lower number board (largely) was out before 3000 ryzen, unless they made more of them like the msi max which has a larger bios chip to fit the larger bios in it. Because their old small chip could not fit it all, they had to cut down the bios features to make 3000 work. Most x470 have the larger bios chip, however they came out for 2000 series so they need a bios update, or you need a newly manufactured one that has a new bios in it....or you need an older cpu to flash the bios...or there are a few boards that will flash without a cpu.

They list 23 different coolers for it. Who cares what cooler? I mean whatever, but my hyper cooler had so many mounts with it I think it fit every socket the last 10 years. Its doubtful you want a noisy stock cooler anyway, and if you have no cooler budget why are you buying a x570. I'm not really seeing the issue here, other than its kind of strange to require a intel cooler on an amd, but only appears to be hole spacing is all.

That would be my guess, the first slot should be default for GPU card. It may not run well in another slot. I guess you could look in bios for any video or pcie settings but it should work without doing that. Some bios you can set onboard or GPU video.

I can't recall if it came with the case or board but I had a tiny speaker that plugs into the board. In my experience its GPU or memory that usually gives no boot.

Not sure where that comes from, a drive is a drive. If I did mine over again I would go 1tb or more on my OS drive, and get the other one later. Its your OS drive you will have to replace if it is too small, and 2nd drive can be added any time. Unless you have a specific need to put things on different drives. And while nvme can be fast there is not much difference between nvme and sata ssd for normal or gaming use.

Yeah I have an old gateway with that too, its handy but in the control panel of the case so can not really use it elsewhere. You can buy readers to go in front slots of PCs iirc they are not expensive. Then you need a case with external drive bays to do that. IDK about cases with that maybe but I've not seen one, but if you use a drive bay type you can still have a good selection of cases to choose from. In fact I put a usb3 card and 3.5 drive bay panel in that gateway to get usb3 on it for backups. My case is a diypc silence and has 2 5.25 bays, one I put a DVD and the other could be a control panel for something.

I been playing some off steam, a few you need to set compatibility mode (in win10) So far good luck. I had to get dxrebirth for descent 1 & 2 it looks far better with it and could not get the mouse to work in DOSBox (which will play a lot of old dos games). It was great to play descent again, there are some newer games that are similar. I just loaded up all the half-life games, some I was able to put in my CD key and activate. Not sure what you mean by old games, I tend to like 90s and up games that are 3d FPS/racing/rpg sometimes. Right now on a 27" 1080p they look awesome compared to yesteryear. My 2400G will play them all without even speeding up the cooler fan. Some other games you can find mods for them so they work again, some games fans have made many levels for its really impressive. GOG is another place to find them. I wish steam did more to make them playable/mods/etc as some are hard to get working, but they do have most oem updates, some reviewers give tips. Wait for a sale you can get some of them for <5 bucks. Not perfect but you can search on steam/etc for old similar games and reviews, which can help you find the games you missed out on. Glad someone is doing it because there are a lot of great old games out there if you are not stuck on perfect graphics.

I agree its tough to justify x570 price, the x470 generally do anything you need today. If you do check the spec on the x570 make sure its ryzen 2000 ready, not sure why it would not. They might drop support for old am4 cpu but would be surprised if they did not support any ryzen.

You can upgrade most things, not sure about motherboard. I have upgraded cpu/gpu/drives/memory and sometimes it asks me to go to MS to verify but not had any issue with it yet. Never changed out a board with an oem license though. I have a sff PC over a few years I put the largest cpu, added a gpu, largest memory pack, cloned hdd to a ssd, and it still works great. There is nothing left to upgrade in it. I also replaced the failed dvd drive. That was bought as a renewed, so I assume its an oem license. In the past by the time you needed a new board due to technology, you needed new version of windows too. So maybe win10 will last forever but that has never happened before.

The big problems in the US the way I see it is first outsourcing labor. It can be good but we did too much and lowered wages, which has hurt a lot of people and our economy. Rich people can't run a country, the masses do, and relatively rich (to other countries) middle class made the US what it is. If you have relatively poor people, well just look at other countries and see what you have. You can live in your little flat and ride your bike to work. The second issue is low interest rates. This causes distortions in the market. The govt has poor policy that hurts the economy then wants low rates to help it, oh, and so the govt can borrow too. Now we have low rates 'forever' and you get companies borrowing to buy up their stock, buy competitors, banks buying oil storage, all kinds of strange stuff, and causing huge mortgage failures/corruption/bubbles, etc. Companies that borrow are not expanding their business and payroll here in the US, why, because the economy has not really been that good excluding the last couple yrs and oh yeah they can just outsource the labor cheaper anyway. So now you have a whole section of the labor force that gets no raise in say two decades, which in turn cuts business to those who used to have them for customers. The current trade deals may be the most important thing for this country for decades to come. Or I could be wrong lol, but I don't think so. There are other factors like corruption, regulation, lobbyists, etc., I agree with that. I'm just saying things that affect the masses really matter; when wages drop, when healthcare goes way up, fuel prices go up, those things cause billions of dollars to change to different hands and here its been changed away from the middle class.

My Asus has the s1220a with crystal sound 3. I have a Z506 5.1 spealers on mine and they sound very good, considering they are little PC speakers. I can be audiophile but don't expect it with this and no its not HT sound, but for what they are and that sale price, its good. Realtek even appears to have time alignment in it, but I didn't bother to set it maybe later. I only have speakers on here for games and occasional youtube video/music. These are analog, there is also an optical output for expensive speakers. Asus It says it has 8 channels. This is why people don't buy sound cards anymore. It is likely that if you record it would be much more important than for playing sound. Recording can pick up noise much easier. On an old PC I had 4 speakers and sub on a SB card and it worked great in many games, I do play old games but not sure this is going to run them the same way.
