Thx! I swear that GPU weighs a ton it literally came with its own support bracket LOL! Once my upgrade Navi XT GPU comes out, I will be selling that massive GPU. Hopefully the replacement GPU isn't as massive =p

thx man! And it's more of a Turquoise/Aqua color theme I was going for =p 1 of the NVmes is the boot drive as well as my main app/game storage and since I am doing video editing, content creation and VM management, the 2nd NVme is video files/encoding storage kind of deal and my WD NVme is for back up and overall extra storage. =)

Awesome build man! Love the clean look and minimalist style.

I will be doing something very similar shortly with my beautiful white PC-011 Dynamic case by Lian-Li when Zen 2 comes out in a month and change.

Going to be White/Black as well with 2 color accents one of which is silver the other the PCPP community will have to wait for the reveal no spoilers allowed =p

LOL @ the NASA Comment I chose Micro ATX because I wanted a small motherboard and even though the case is ATX it is compact AF so shouldn't have too much space left back. Not powering NASA but this build I will be using for Streaming, Virtual Machine Management, Video Editing and Gaming. Chose Vega 56 because I wanted to go all "Underdog" this time around and this GPU is more powerful than alot of ppl give it credit for it is also a limited edition Vega 56 that is clocked higher than most other 56s. in my current aged rig I get over 100 FPS in most games with everything on High and others Maxed out =p

It's all good 2600/2600X/2700X are ALL great choices only reason I am getting 12-core is because the LAST thing i will be doing on it is gaming, primary things are Video Editing, Streaming, VM Management THEN Gaming. So I am kinda trying to build a Home Server/PCMR Gaming System. My part's list so far is below, they are subject to change but we'll see wat the coming weeks leading up to my CPU release bring.

LOL Not the 12-Core 2920X or the 16-Core 2950X ones, only the 24 core 2970WX & 32-Core 2990WX since they have a 250W TDP. 12 & 16- Core ones have same wattage as 1st gen @ 180W so all the 1st gen mobos need is a BIOS update and that's it

Awesome and simplistic build I agree with the overuse of RGB stuff and the fact that it is good/bad at same time. I have a couple of custom water cooling overkill projects up my sleeve =) and one of them is a similar to yours color theme wise, just hoping that the ridiculous price tag they have the case at is jus a pre-order price and not the "real" one. You can check out the build below, will be my first delve into water-cooling its not my main project, but it is a possible alternative for me if the case price drops to my liking, right now its too rich for my blood, might switch it out for the new Lian-Li PC-011 Dynamic in White, cause there is no way in hell it should be as expensive as the 1000D @ $499.99 esp since it is smaller by far and only has integrated AIO like its black color variant at $299.99 =)

Awesome and very festive looking build! +1 =)

P.S. Just recently I was debating between 1600X, the 8700k and the 1920X CPUs, was so tempted to get the 8700k, but 400 bucks for a 6-core is hard to swallow that's like 8-core territory, so if it ever goes on sale in mid to low 300s I might reconsider, but my mind is currently thinking either

  1. Going balls to the wall spend a chunk of money and give in to the Thread-ripper 12-core with custom loop to create my ultimate dream PC OR

  2. Settling with a solid all rounder that is a good balance for everything, the 1600X but with an AIO cooler.

My enthusiast side is saying take the f** leap and spend 3Gs on a system that will last forever and a day with the water-cooling i always wanted to do for years since I am buying 1080ti anyways....but then my budget angel in my head is telling me take a f**** step back, breath and get mid-range & solid performing CPU......uhhh my stomach is in knots with these decisions!!!!!

Awesome Mods man, a while back I thought of attempting to mod my current Enthoo Primo Phanteks 1st ever case into the case market for PCs, but I saw all time ppl invested in this and money and i was like "nah bro i aint got the patience" LOL

Leaning towards Threadripper Overkill build over 1600X or 8700k for the last 6 months now...but we'll see since Zen 2 Comes out February supposedly.....(As if TR4 isn't Overkill already am i right?) =)

Anyways happy holidays & beautiful setup take my +3!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, but since I am doing more than single thread performance stuff...I am really looking forward to seeing the realtime multi threaded performance numbers upon launch. =) So, in my situation, should I fork up the extra 200 bucks for the flagship or stick with the middle man 12-core???

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Threadripper Project: Abysmal Demise (Update Cont'd)"

  • 1 point

Well what I was saying was my friends thought that since I was looking at the 1920X for 799, why not spend the extra 200 for the flagship 1950X that is 4 more cores since I was thinking of overkill. but 1000 bucks is something I really don't think I want to spend on a cpu, plus lower core CPUs tend to have better Single thread performance over the higher core count CPUs for the most part. And even though both the 20X and 50X is 180W, 16core will get hotter than a 12core. And nobody has definite numbers yet for Single thread perf besides AMDs CINEBENCH on the CPUs which is strictly multi thread. We will not know real time benches esp for single threaded until launch day, so all we have now to go by is leaks and synthetics. So I wont go writing off single thread performance yet =)

I've heard good things when it came to the 1700, even though it can be OCed to the 1920Xs freq and beyond, I think that the 1920x being a standard at 3.5 ghz + the more cores would shine and perform better, it will definately be warmer than the 65W TDP of the 1700 since its 180W, but have you ever had a life long dream of always wanting to have your very own all in one hardcore rig to call your own, especially when OCing the CPU isnt necessary? Thats what drew me to the 1920X, its just...a monster=) some ppl told why dont I spend the extra 200 for the 1950X and call it a day if I'm going overkill, are arguing that the 16-Core is a better value since you getting a quad core equivalent more for 200$ but I feel the single threaded will be better on the 12 =)

You are right about overkill for just rendering, but I will be doing little more than that, I will be also be creating VMs as well as some other server things, video editing, streaming and gaming as well. Kinda trying to make a "Jack of all trades" build.
