I've just been going by youtubers that I typically trust, and they report higher temps. Its all dependent on what games you're playing, what settings/fps you're at too. Reviewers haven't had problems fitting the fans in there with normal cards.
Non-PWM still controls the fan speed, but through a different way. Instead of actually increasing and decreasing the RPM of the fan, the connector increases/decreases the voltage to the fan, allowing it to run at a higher or lower speed.
The i5 has its limits, it will have those limits regardless of what graphics card you're pairing it with. I game at 1440p and a game like GTA V only uses about 75% CPU at very high/ultra mixed. However, Battlefield 4 completely wrecks my i5.
I replaced them with 2 120mm Corsair Quiet Edition SP fans. It's important to use SP which is Static Pressure rather than AF which is Airflow. Static Pressure is better for radiators, airflow is better for the case fans. Temperature-wise, it was nearly identical to the stock fans since I believe the stock are SP as well. However, noise was considerably lower, those stock fans were driving me insane since the top of my case is the main place where noise escapes and that's where they were. The ones I got were so good I replaced all my case fans with their Quiet Edition AF White LED fans.
Not bad at all. There were a few snags like having to bend the front USB cables to fit the fans, and rerouting the power cable helped a lot. If you just plan what you're doing beforehand and watch a video or two with some tips it's pretty simple.
Its noticeable, but so far I've only been playing sitting right next to the case. If its on your living room entertainment unit like it will be on mine soon, I'd imagine its no louder than the PS4.
Temperatures are high but nothing that's concerned me so far. I play a lot of different games so temps have been all over the place. lightweight indie games the thing stays in the 50's, stuff lying Dying light has pushed it into the high 70's.
Yeah I'm actually planning to do so when I get around to it, it's been a busy summer. I originally just left it stock because I was going to make this as cheap as possible. Of course, I got antsy and bought the more expensive motherboard, a 8gb 480 instead of the 4gb, and had to buy a hard drive when I broke the one I was going to repurpose for this :(
You could do this build for ~$800 with the Noctua cooler if you successfully did all the things I failed to do.
lol its all good, it is jet black which is different than my other mobos in all fairness
It was pretty damn smooth, the hardest part was getting this daisy-chained SATA power cable to properly plug into all the hard drives I have, but it was worth it in the end to have the 1 cable instead of 4 different power cables.
There's no I/O shield to install on the Gigabyte GPU's, they're already on there. The motherboard I/O shield is there too, you can see the metal trim around the hole.
I'm going to keep this radiator until it dies out lol, its so great. I have an SLI setup now and its nice to never worry about CPU temps even though I've overclocked the hell out of it. I keep the top dust filter on, but the case is in positive/neutral pressure so there's not much dust that gets in. Most of the dust is on the bottom filter from the bottom fan taking in the dust from my floor.
The PSU is fanless so it doesn't matter which way it's oriented. I also have the build sitting on a wood plank so its not directly on carpet anyway.
