In fairness to the motherboard, all B350/X370 motherboards have the same problems right now. And all 3 of the specific things you pointed out are rooted in the Ryzen firmware and the B350/X370 chipset from AMD. Hardly anyone has gotten any board to run RAM at 3200, most are lucky to hit 2933, and I have yet to hear of anyone hitting 4.1 on a Ryzen. The firmware of the chipset has to be updated to report accurate temps to monitoring like programs like HW Info. These are pretty much universal limitations of this generation of the Zen architecture... and all things I really hope AMD fixes and gets to market with Ryzen 2nd gen in the next year or so... If they get 2nd gen Zen done timely and correctly, that'd be enough for me to switch back from Intel. I would hate to see them drop the ball again and see another decade pass before we see competition in the CPU market.
If you're brave enough to do it and willing to invest the time necessary, EK does make water blocks for the Intel 750 and DC 3700 Series PCIe SSDs and, if you can find them, their GTX 780 Classy water blocks will fit GTX 980 Ti Classified cards. It would take some hunting, and about 700-800 bucks for the full loop, but you would see a dramatic improvement in temps.... especially worth consideration if you intend on pushing any serious overclocks.
The CPU block will be the EK monoblock that cools the VRMs and MOSFETS as well, and there will definitely be an EK block on the GPU as well.
I'm agreeing with you though on waiting for prices to fall. I'm thinking if anything I'll order the case, RAM, and rads first, and wait for good bundles on the MB/CPU and deals on the GPU around Black Friday and Christmas. If the EVGA FTW3 isn't available later on, it's all good. The ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte cards are great performers as well. With Pascal having reached it's maturity, the die yields are on point and most of the AIB partner cards are within a percent or two of performance of each other. My main requirements are that it's a card with a fullcover block available and it has to have dual 8 pins on the GPU to feed it the extra juice, cause it's going under water and I'm OC'ing it to hell and back, lol.
I know... it's making it really tough to stick with holding out till next year like I had planned on.... debating on whether or not to pull the trigger and start ordering the parts for this....
Sadly it wasn't, it only had a 3 year warranty.

Honestly, probably not any better than an i7-7700K, even with the CPU bottlenecking the GPUs at that point. Xeons are definitely not optimized for gaming, so under 4K resolutions, there would be nowhere near a justifiable amount of performance gained to cost increase. But seeing as this is principally a rig built for editing and rendering, it'll do quite nicely.
The only question I have is since you're using this machine as a render/edit orientated machine... why not have chosen to go with a pair of Quadro P5000s?
They'd have cost you about $800 less than Quad Titans, can still be water cooled as EK's Short Top 1080 blocks fit them, they would draw less than half the wattage, and with it being dual Xeons in a workstation class board you're apparently don't seem interested in doing AAA title gaming on this rig... Just curious, why you choose Titans is all.

Cool, 5% performance is pretty negligible, probably beyond what can be noticed with the naked eye given the capabilities of the latest GPUs. Definitely food for thought since i was considering snagging a EVGA 1080 ti Kingpin edition... if a pair of 1070s matches or exceeds the performance for ~$300 bucks less... hmm...
I'm kinda curious to see if you've encountered any throttling issues in graphics performance. Intel's more recent chipset designs prevent us from having enough PCIe lanes to run SLI builds with both cards running at 16x unless you fork out for the extra bucks for an Enthusiast series cpu...
Nice build, I really like the newer line of cases from NZXT, short of the price. But they certainly have nice features and great lines. But for someone fortunate enough to be close to a MicroCenter it's possible to stretch an $1100 budget into much more performance though... Personally, I'd like to see more of the build examples aimed at a better balance of aesthetics and performance. After all there are users out there that care more about the power of their build than the looks, and many that like the best balance of both.
For example, what I would do for an $1,100 gaming rig...
