If you're buying an AIO (all in one) it comes with everything setup, all you have to do is mount the radiator and the cpu block. Yes they have coolant in the loop.

I believe it comes with thermal paste though not sure if its preapplied.

Thermal paste is always needed to transfer heat from the CPU to the heatsink.

I had the HD 518 before and heard the 558 and 598. I feel the 600/650 are a better value. The sound quality is leagues ahead, all parts of the headphone are easily user serviceable, build is solid, and for being world class headphones they are very affordable.

There are AKG's and Beyers (K712/DT 880 PRO) in the same league, but I wouldn't say they are better quality. One might prefer one over the other for various reasons.

Instead of the essence I'd go with the Schiit Fulla 2. Good quality amplifier and DAC with a preamp all for $99.

If you don't need a soundcard don't buy one lol.

Sennheiser HD 558 is $69.99 at Fry's and $89.99 at best buy, should be great for gaming and music.

They seem in line with other wireless gaming headsets, if you're expecting similar quality to the 598 I would be doubtful.

The JBL LSRs Evil mentioned are excellent. They are studio monitors so you're hearing music the way it was produced. Doesn't matter what kind of music you're listening to as long as the quality of the recording is good.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Quick question about audio quality"

  • 1 point

Yes. The devices have a DAC and amplifier which work together to produce audio. The DAC converts the digital signal to analog and the amplifier boosts that signal.

The audio from your computer might have interference from other components on the same motherboard and/or have lower quality components which can not reproduce sound as cleanly or accurately as your iPhone.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Why do all parents have a thing against games?"

Because they feel games take away valuable time from other things you could be doing and sitting glued to the TV is bad for your health. Then there are also violent games which many parents are against. With all the school shootings that happened in recent years and articles about the violence these games cause ,they are only doing ways best in their eyes.

If it's background noise in your home it won't really be a problem unless you listen to your headphones at low volume. At a place like a shopping mall or other crowded public area it will because open back headphones don't isolate noise well.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Headphones for competitive gaming. Considering Sennheisser HD598's and HD598 Cs"

  • 1 point

Despite the name the 598CS is totally different from the HD 598. Different drivers and sound in short. The 598 will be more detailed and have a better balance of lows, mids, and highs. For games and music in general I would suggest the 598, but the 558 is often much cheaper and the sound is like 95% identical. An amp will be beneficial in a small way, not really worth it for these headphones.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Good Pair of Headphones and Microphone?"

HD 558+ Samson GO mic. The 558 is actually cheaper at the moment on amazon UK than the 518, and is very similar in quality to the HD 598.

The GO should be more than enough for voice chat/commentary (assuming used for gaming) and sounds better than the blue snowball for less.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Looking for a great pair of headphones for any price from $100 to $300 max."

  • 1 point

I would recommend the HD 600 but it needs an amp to sound good and the minimum for is a Schiit Magni 2 which is $115. It may seem pricey but once you buy it you're likely set for life. Same headphone that sound engineers have in their studio and you hear the music exactly as it was intended.

Something on a lower level would be an entry level Senn like the HD 558. If you don't mind using an adapter to add a mic it's a decent buy at $80. There are Game ZERO/ONE headsets that use similar drivers but not quite the same quality of sound.

And below that the HyperX headsets are a decent option.

Drop out or change majors to something less intensive.

If they are a "weak" student they shouldn't be wasting their money there in the first place.

The people that have a legitimate reason for making bad grades are few and far between, the majority either cheated their way through highschool or did not put enough effort into studying and understanding the material.

Legitimately no budget? The ultimate solution would be to buy ciems (custom in ear monitors) which are made to fit your ear perfectly. But they range from a few hundred to over a thousand dollars.

Ohms is one part, sensitivity is the other and usually the deciding factor. The 350 have a high sensitivity and should be fine. They need 5.05 mW to reach 115db and for reference an iphone 6 can output 6.614 mW @150 Ohms. If you feel you still need an amp I'd suggest to diy a cmoy amp.

The refresh rate of that monitor is 60Hz so the max FPS you can play at is 60fps.
