about 200/250 mbps. Hardwired ethernet, about 30-40 metres long. HDD isn't very fragmented, and I've got about 1TB of space. I can't see where the issue is coming from.

Try again. use simple language. don't overcomplicate. no visual things. i guess iphone user is the roommate? need to clarify. what benefit are they getting?

as far as i can see the main question is: "Is there an advanced security option to stop people from connecting remotely to my laptop."

for a first time build this is good. later you can get a separate cooler, air or liquid, along with getting an upgraded cpu.

Agreed. It is going to suck that most of the idiots who voted for brexit won't care/be there to see what happens. The people who like the EU etc are mainly a younger generation, some of whom aren't even old enough to vote. Wish they'd lower the voting age, especially as there was such a tight margin

You might, definitely not the build andrewrayhorns' . I'd say keep an eye on ebay and local selling sites. PCPP also sometimes comes up with something.

Does it have to be used? as this has shown, you can build a pretty good pc for roughly 500 for new. I just threw this together now: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nfb9V6 a bit above $500 given, but pretty good.

Okay build. I would have gone for 2 sticks of 4gb instead, also, no HDD? 120gb isn't enough for a pc today. Also, kodysdgko, at that budget forget 16gb RAM. 8gb is fine, and you can't really afford it, divert that into a decent HDD, one off ebay or something, i got my 2tb for £80, so you shouldn't be hard pressed to find a 1TB one for about £30-40.

Trump is an idiot. Just hope the democrats can field someone who can challenge him/unite them enough. Tbh at the minute brexit is the bigger issue. America can start to smoulder. Once the UK sorts itself out, and gets back into the EU, we'll pass the fire extinguisher across the Atlantic so you can use it.

I use a wd black 2tb, and wd is usually a pretty good company for HDDs. green is eco, which means less power, and black is performance. blue is just standard. look on ebay, and you can get a very good price for a 2tb HDD. i got mine for about £80.

Looks a solid build. If you've got the cash, might as well invest in a 2TB hard drive. won't hurt and it doesn't cost a ton more. other than that, good parts, solid GPU and CPU. ebay is your friend for parts.

you need a HDD, they aren't much if you get a second hand one off ebay, aim for 2tb. i got mine for about £70. other than that, great build, needs OS, but i assume you have that covered.

I might have forgotten to add the negative outlook. Which. let's face it. isn't good. Something like your predicted scenario here. although there are 1 million and 1 things that could go badly which would make things even worse. Tf i've got german citizenship too. Also, although it's unlikely, the possibility of Ireland uniting, and joining the EU as a whole, at least in theory, while remaining mostly separated.

All in all, a major **** up. The UK looks like idiots on the global stage. People everywhere hate just about all the main political parties at this point.

No-one has a clue what to do. The tories don't want to hold another referendum. Labour might, but is still considering. Theresa May is going to be forced out/made to put together a plan for leaving any day now. Best case scenario is a general election is held. Labour and the SNP form a coalition with enough members of the tories rebelling and a new referendum is held, with more focus on the activities of parties and advertising laws etc. And 16+ are allowed to vote, along with anyone in the UK who pays taxes, or has lived in the UK for more than 5 years.

The 8gb of RAM will do fine on a buget. There's no issue with it. You really don't need an SSD either, it'll just speed up the booting of the pc. Just go for a 256gb SSD and go for a 2tb HDD, or ditch the SSD completely and get one later

Comment reply on Forum Topic "PC giveaway stream idea"

It sounds fine, mainly because it isn't on PCPP, it's going to be on twitch. Therefore PCPP rules about giveaways etc shouldn't apply. The blog posts about it sound good too, a good way to increase the audience.

I think you would have to post the competition on youtube/twitch, and then link it into here. That sounds the safest route.

Overall, great idea, I'd definitely watch, sounds good, and can also then be cut up into an instruction videos for how to build a pc, w. one video consisting of installing a major part.

You've got the parts list, but if you've got some spare money, sink it into the GPU, and get either a 2600, or an rx580 8gb. for a bit more money you get a lot more performance.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "New to building pcs"

  • 1 point

I'd advise using PCPP's own parts list software. This tells you whether the parts are compatible etc, and also gives you competitive pricing. Look in the top left corner and click system builder.

If it's for gaming, the ryzen will do just fine, and it comes with a stock cooler that will serve pretty well, you really don't need the CPU cooler.

GPU isn't great, especially for gaming. It depends if you want nvidia or AMD, but for AMD i can recommend the rx580 8gb. for nvidia i'm not so sure, as new GPU line up has just come out recently.

Depends what you store on the SSD, but if it's just the OS and a few small programs, I'd go for a 256gb. The HDD is good. I'd say go for a mini-itx case. I personally like ones with a plastic panel in the side so you can see in, but that's personal preference.

The power supply will do just fine as well. No issues there. Put a parts list together using the website, and then post that on parts list opinions wanted forum.

Just seen it. I cried 4 times, mostly towards the end. The final battle is amazing, but I pity the cgi people who had to create it. Also, thought's on cpt Marvel's new hairstyle?

Thor getting fat and drunk was funny, definitely one of the lighter moments. Can't wait for phase 5.

Sad Stan Lee didn't get a bigger cameo/more fitting tribute
