First build, photo processing and general use, not gaming

Been plugging in parts in System Builder but no real basis so wanted to ask for a start. Have a 2 TB HDD and a AMD Radeon R2 270 (ATI) 2GB GDDR5 Graphics card in a 2015 Dell XPS 8700 that I expect to cannibalize. It also has an Intel Core i7 4790 @ 3.60GHz CPU I could grab too. There is also a i5-2320 @ 3.0 GHz in another older but still running well Dell PC available.

Was thinking about motherboard with 2 M.2 NVMe slots with 500GB for boot and applications and another 1 or 2 TB NVMe for mostly image files. Have a 27" Dell 2715Q 4K (3840x2160@60Hz) paired with a BenQ 27" Zowie RL LCD (1920x2180 @59Hz) dual monitor desktop.

Open for any suggestions. Would rather spend a few extra bucks for fast performance than skimp. Edit lots of high res 45MB files in Photoshop and Lightroom. Don't want any lag with loading or using Wacom Pen tablet for editing.

Thanks

I'm open and anything I would enter would be just a guess. Just hope to use some components on hand.

Will the Ryzen 5 2400G Integrated Vega 11 graphics run up to 2 4K monitors for large image file work? As noted above I've got an AMD Radeon graphics card that I can take from another PC if necessary. I expect that using the 2 NVMe M.2 for storage and loading then manipulating images ought to be pretty fast.

Changes + Reasoning

GPU

Since all you really need out of this machine is a display, your best bet would be to use your old graphics card to run your monitors (correct me if i'm wrong here)

Power Supply

You don't need a crazy amount of power when you have a small gpu, if you want to be safe/add headroom for future upgrades you should bump the wattage up to 650w

CPU

Since I changed out the integrated graphics for your old gpu I added a 2700 so you can render speedy quick

Ram

I changed the ram from 4x8 to 2x16 because generally if you have a dual channel board/cpu it's not gonna be great for your ram controller and is potentially gonna fry it.

Thanks for the input and notes. I only need the GPU to run the monitors, quickly and clearly. Will upgrade to Corsair TXM Gold 650, rather have extra than run at / near top of range. Thanks for the heads up on RAM. Will use older GPU that is in hand. Or for $129 I can throw in MSI Radeon RX 570 8 GB card

I don't mind spending extra bucks for performance for my needs, but don't need a Porsche for grocery runs.

Do hope other Lightroom/Photoshop users will comment. I've heard that the bottleneck may be in those apps, not a hardware problem.

What I have is adequate, but I wanted to see the speed of NVMe and not depend on a mechanical HDD except for back-up.

Just curious, what do you know about the GeIL memory? There are no reviews.

heres my edit. you can upgrade Storage if you need to but I don't believe editing photos will stress your storage that much but I could be wrong. went with a 9600k because i believe photoshop favors single thread frequency. added a gpu as well just cause i could but id be interested to see what a more experienced photo editing builder would have to say.

May back off since this is well over initial budget but for my non gaming purposes it ought to be overkill.

Updated list, have bought the CPU, Case and power supply. Looking for options for motherboard and GPU. Though not gaming I do want it to power two 4K monitors for image processing. I'm new at this and appreciate help. Can't believe the Ryzen CPU was $100 less last week when I bought it!

If you want to shave a couple hundred bucks off you could replace the 2TB SSD with a very reliable mechanical HDD from WD, Seagate. Even a 5400 rpm WD Blue would probably serve the role of data repository pretty well.

Not really concerned with the storage, want to get away from HDD, that's part of the reason I'm doing this, just asking about an appropriate GPU.

made a few tweaks but this is what I've got ordered, less the 3TB HDD which I may exclude in lieu of a 4TB external I already have since it will be for long term storage of photos etc.
