I'm assuming I did something wrong? My monitor and motherboard don't show up on the list normally. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/masterspammer/saved/3nvyXL

The motherboard is not compatible with the CPU and the monitor is out of stock.

Could you tell me what specifically makes the motherboard and CPU incompatible so I know for next time? I know they're both LGA1151

The CPU is too old. 300 series motherboards only work with 8th and 9th gen intel cpus.

Ok, thank you.

They actually are compatible, but requires some DIY, warranty voiding, and modding, not recommended for first time builder. Intel has made 8th/9th gen incompatible with older 100 and 200 series motherboards, so people would have to buy new 300 series boards in order to upgrade to cofee lake 6 cores, then 8 cores. They claimed all the older motherboards couldn’t handle the higher core CPUs (not true) and they changed the pin layouts in order to accommodate the higher core CPUs (partially true). Anyways you will need a 300 series motherboard in order to have the CPU compatible out of the box.
