I think this could be the best Mid Tower of 2017
What good is a release if there are none available to purchase?
My sentiments exactly, they should have stocked the stores first and then announced a release date.
(cringes) somebody at Fractal or Newegg screwed up. The cases were supposed to be listed on Newegg that day my review video was published, on dec 20th, for Xmas break...... and they're still not listed (gulp)
Are you guys planning on making any mods for it? I know that the TG door will fit on both sides, maybe a replica/replacement to fit the other side?
Machined aluminum version of the 5.25 name plate cover.... We don't handle or work with Glass, best to find local glass specialist if you desire one.
the top implement certainly could have been better, but otherwise nice and flexible. they finally at least have a filter on the top.
I would have rather seen the modu-vent with a filter then what they used.
agreed. smaller sections would have been nice. i think the P400S does this perfectly.
I think they did an amazing job with the R6....... I have to agree with this case being the best mid tower 2017 case. Honestly fractal was lacking with latest releases.
their latest bunch of cases were too compact.
Top notch looking case so far. No case is ever perfect, IMO, but this one sure does hit on alot of angles. Should be a popular one in future builds.
I opened up youtube tonight and saw at least three people all released reviews on it at the same time. Everyone rushing to be the first review...
Fractal's Non-Disclosure Agreement instructed all of the reviews to launch on the same day. I would have staged the reviews to be released over span of 1- 2 weeks. It's more easily forgotten when you infiltrate social media channels on one day, imho.
Why the USB 2.0 ports? USB 3.0 is backward compatible, they could have just put another set of them on there. What would have really given them extra kudos is a USB C port though, that would have been really nice.
They dropped the ball by not waiting until the Type-C port production run was finished, and including them, Ive read alot of complaints from people who don't want to spend additional $29.
The "Connect D1" I think they call it. I honestly think they should launch a revision 2 and start including it on all future releases of the R6. With a lot of the newer motherboards including a header for it would sure be a pleasant addition to the case.
I "believe" that was the original plan, but somebody at Fractal decided to push the release of the cases out sooner, before competitors announced their new cases at CES. There may have also been a financial reason why their release was pushed to this month? Maybe Increase sales record for 2017?? In any case, the R6 cases were supposed to be listed on Newegg on dec 20th, to capture Xmas break shoppers, but they're still not listed on Newegg... I'm waiting to hear more news.
I kinda like the Gunmetal Tempered Glass edition, it looks very sleek. The more I look at it the more I want it. haha
That sux that only the white edition comes with clear transparent glass while all the others are 33% tinted. :/
preach. I suppose we could always buy vinyl tint though
I don't know why they did the open top the way they did. I like how the Meshify and Define C did it, it kept the nice Fractal clean looks and still allowed airflow and dust filtering.
The rest of it looks great. I want a white one to build in, but I really don't need to do another custom loop. Maybe a white Meshify? White mesh and white interior and black on the outside?
Are they offering a White Meshify? ......yet?
No but dear lord do I want one. I am a huge fan of the white case with the black front. I'd absolutely buy a Meshify in white, and maybe even swap it with a black front.
I think the Define C and Meshify are nearly perfect cases. They're not overly large but can still hold a lot. I'd love to see a Meshify with 3x140mm fan mounts on front, but I don't know how much larger it would need to be. As it is, 2x140mm in front and 2x120mm exhaust works well.
You could easily buy one and paint it white
I have both the define c and r5. My only complaint is moving from the r5 to the c is that I couldn't move all my fans over from the r5. That and less usb ports, more difficult to remove the front filter. So okay maybe a couple complaints. I think I will sale both and get an r6.
I wish the R6 had the option to remove the 5.25 and put 3x140mm in front. It might work but part of the top wouldn't be filtered.
That would be pretty nice, then you could fit a bigger radiator in there as well. Even if not there should be cooling for those components anyway.
The entire case is modular including the 5.25 drive bay but you can install 3x120mm or 2x140mm fans and up to a 360mm rad up front. The top can accept up to a 420mm rad too.
Damn, if I didn't have my Pro M I would be tempted to grab it.
Vagabond sells his Pro M and buys the new R6..........................................................................................................................
Not a fan of the top cover as mentioned. Also I do hope they offer SKUs or something which come with the type C panel as default for a tiny premium. Seems excessive to need to buy a separate I/O panel which will just be laying around, though may mean one too many SKU's I suppose.
I'm very excited to get my hands on one. I was just advised to check out the Lian-Li PC-011 WGX as well, while not new, certainly a strong contender for an upgrade case. How do these compare?
Looks like more like a case to show components off with and not so much as efficient in cooling as the R6 will be (no 140mm fans?). Plus I'm betting the R6 will cost quite a bit less. I'm going to wait and go with the R6 gunmetal TG edition.
I'm torn between getting the r6 white TG or the dark base pro 900 white
White TG would be my choice, but no ETA when it will be available
I wouldn't have done it that way.... Fractal's Non-Disclosure Agreement instructed all of the reviews to launch on the same day. I would have staged the reviews to be released over span of 1- 2 weeks. It's more easily forgotten when you infiltrate social media channels on one day, imho.
