So I am buying a graphics card from Craigslist (I know sketchy right). Buts a pretty good deal. A PNY Gtx 1080 for only $375! It's used but said only for 2 months. So what I am asking is first, do they make fakes of these and how do you spot them, and second, how can I check to see if it works without bringing my whole PC?

They don't make fakes AFAIK, but a common scam is to sell a lower end graphics card.

There is no way to test it without it being actively used in a pc, ask and see if you can test it with his system.

Ask him to send you a picture of his specs and confirm that the graphics card is real, then make him test it using his pc. That way you will know if there is a default in the GPU
