Description

This is my first build in more than ten years! When one of my older computers died on me in the middle of a project and futile attempt to find a decent replacement at a reasonable price, I decided it is time to build again.

I wanted a powerful, stable and scalable machine that can accommodate photo & video editing and HTPC that can handle PLEX Media Server transcoding. It is work in progress….GPU, monitor, etc. I am still tweaking.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Its combination with Be Quiet DB 900 Rev.2 is awesome! It kept the CPU temperature in check under stress.

Case

Great modularity, albeit, challenging. Highly scalable. It is very quiet. It is monstrous! It is beautiful.

Headphones

Rich sound. Superb noise cancellation. Works great with Alexa. It starts breaking up @ about 30% of battery power.

if you dont mind me asking what do you use this system for? like work or are you a content creator or something along those lines? im intrigued by the fact that you are running a 500$ processor and using the integrated gpu.

For now, I use it mainly for Plex Media Server - transcoding. Will eventually migrate some photo & video editing from other machines. GPU/better monitor will be considered at that point.

Throwing a Quadro P2000 wouldn't be a bad idea to throw in there then. Unlimited concurrent transcoding threads and all that. Unless of course it's just for your own personal use and no one else has access.
