Description

So a couple of months ago the son of our cleaning lady approached me since he wanted a new PC. He told me that he already bought the i9 1.5 months ago at that point. And since it is basically impossible to return stuff you bought more than a month ago and already opened package here in switzerland we were pretty much stuck with this.. I would have rather gotten a 9900k or a 2nd gen ryzen. I wish he would have told me before buying the CPU.. But oh well.. He also wanted a rtx 2080 Ti, the trident z memory, and the 970 evo. The rest is pretty self explanatory. PC booted up on the first try... It is a kick *** PC but i still am not a 100% happy with it since he wants to game with it.. I could have built him a better performing pc for less money... Ain't my fault tho for not asking me for advice first.. the thing is that like at the beginning of the year I already told him NOT to get Intel HEDT cpus since they are overpriced as frick..

CPU: When I ran Cinebench r20 the CPU hit 80C (Only on 2 cores tho. The other 8 were like 5-7C cooler). This is rather hot but it was a super super hot day (like 36 C or something). And it was at full load. Since he only really wants to game the CPU won't hit loads like that anyway.. So i'm not really worried.

Part Reviews

CPU

It's just too expensive for what it is. And runs fairly hot..

CPU Cooler

It's rather huge but actually easier to install than I thought.. also has good ram clearance.. Had to move the front fan a but up but the Trident Z fits perfectly.

Memory

Looks gorgeous. Does what it needs to do

Video Card

While I love EVGA and their cards.. This one looks rather ugly. The palstic shroud is see through.. Not a big fan of it. But runs perfectly and cool

The son of your cleaning? Is this your cleaning person's son, is it your son? Also, either way I see it, how does one just ask "Hey I want a new PC, so I spent $1000 buying the cpu, now you buy the rest"?

Your right if he got the AMD Ryzen 9 he would have basically halved the price and gotten a 10% performance boost. If only he knew how to do some research.....

He really wanted Intel.. I mean thats fine but even an i7 9700k or a 9900k would have been a better CPU for gaming while being MUCH cheaper than the i9

For certain.

Must be real hardcore about intel.

I mean I went intel all the way until I saw the AMD cpu line up this time around. is shocking.

I think he could have even gotten the most recent intel i9 cpu without the extreme addition and saved a couple hundred dollars.

is unfortunate.

No I just think he doesn't know much about components. I mean he knew generally what he wanted. But I just think he thought that higher price = better performance overall. And this is just not always the case.

Lacking of pics is less desired. Intel good products, but I agree they are over priced.

Yeah sorry about that.. I just snapped some while building and forgot to take some of the finished PC.. I only noticed after he picked it up..

It is what it is. He overspent but still got a kick-*** PC. Next time he will know better.
