Finally finished my first build. Had a lot of issues with it initially. Got a bad cpu and took about 2 weeks of trouble shooting to finally narrow it down. It's up and running now, plus just got my new rx 480 nitro. :)
1060 > 480
That Sapphire Nitro card is so beautiful, it's a shame that it isn't it stock anywhere. How is it doing under load? I've heard lots of complaints about heat and noise. I was waiting for the Nitro to come back in stock, but I bit the bullet on the XFX 480 from Jet.
Just got it today, so haven't really had a lot of time to mess around with it yet. Noise isn't that bad, it is noticeable under full load, but it's not that distracting. The fans do shut off when under 50°C though. Temps are a bit higher than what I would like to see (but could also be due to the smaller case that I have), hit 82°C after gaming for around 45min. I think I might put some fans below the card to pump some cool air directly into it, to see if that helps any.
Nice! Same build I am saving for, excepting the water cooler. How would you say the 480 holds up and would you recommend getting exactly that model?
So far the card it great. I would recommend getting a different case though, I had to bend the frame of the case with a pair of pliers so I could insert the card into the PCIe slot. Then bend it back after. In retrospect if uninstalled everything and put the gpu on the motherboard outside the case, I probably would have not had an issue.
I know you said it, but do you think that putting the GPU in the mobo first would solve that problem? I already own the case and am currently looking for a GPU that fits it....
I'm sure you wouldn't have an issue if you installed the card outside the case and then slid it in. It was the install angle of the card in relation to the corner of the frame that gave me problems.
Great build! Odd storage config, but a great build!
LOL, yeah had them laying around. Tried to save a few dollars here and there. I'll probably add an M.2 ssd and get some larger mechanical drives at some point.
This is a really nice build. Love the GPU choice too! Take a +1!
I just love look of this one
Hey, I'm doing almost the same build, and I was wondering how you managed to fit the GPU into the slot. The case seems to keep getting in the way.
I ended up just bending the frame of my case with a pair of pliers, then installed the card. If you uninstall the MB and do everything outside the case, I doubt you would run into any problems though.
soz dude but why the 480? you can buy a 580 for like 10 dollars more than that and they are better
oh lol sorry you made this a year ago >.<
Is the monitor 144hz?
