Nice, those fans on the video card look like the bottom of space shuttle booster rockets

That air cooler is really big and blocks view of the motherboard a lot. Should have just gotten an AIO water cooler. Everything else is great otherwise. +1

I'm new to building computers, does the thermal paste come with the cpu?

No. It either comes with the CPU cooler (may be pre-applied) or it can be bought separately.

Usually the thermal paste comes with the cooler. But if you buy an unlocked (overclockable) cpu, which ends in K or X I think (like i5 6600K or this one), they don't send you a cooler assuming you're going to buy an aftermarket cooler, which you'll have to, if you overclock.

very nice and clean build! +1. How did you like that case? it was one of the cases i looked at before I did my build.

Thanks :) This is really good case. I only make builds with Fractal design cases. They have a simple design, good manufacture quality, small dimensions but enough space for PC components, nice brushed black look front panel, ...

Wow the black and white colorscheme looks just great. This may be one of the best builds i have ever seen and i have seen many and i also happen to be a perfectionist. All the parts match very well and the part choice seems optimal. I wouldn't have changed a single thing. Also very nice to see the absence of any distracting, flashy RGBs. Very simple and minimalistic build. Just perfect. The only thing i would have changed is that I would have chosen white sleeved pdu cable extensions to make it look evn better but they aren't necessarry. Is it audible at idle? I guess it isn't but just let me know.

Thanks :))

Yeah, I really hate that stupid RGB Leds. I like simple builds with only one neutral basic color scheme and another one color. Sleeved cables will be in another Fractal Define build that I gonna to make very soon. I'm still waiting for a EVGA Z270 motherboards, when they come to EU ;-)

About noise level of chassis: It depends on your own configurations of fan speed. But it's very quiet also in Load, because of Deutschland quality of Noiseblocker ;-)

Did you have ram clearance issues with that kit and that cpu cooler ? with the original fan that came with it ? I know the ram nearly touch the fan but never tested it

The original fan Wing boost 2 (135 mm) was colliding with the G.SKILL Trident-Z ram (height 44 mm). So, there was no ram clearance. But for example Corsair Vengeance LPX with only 31 mm of height will fit well ;-)

How's the motherboard? :O

ASRock Z270 Extreme 4. Or what did you mean??

I meant "How Is The Motherboard", like, are you enjoying it?

I just thought I'd ask since I've heard mostly good things, but also a few bad things, and I've been thinking about getting it myself and wanted your thoughts. Sorry for wording it confusingly!

This build was not made for me, so I don't know if the mobo was good choice for user :-) Few bad things .... hmmm.... in my case I had problem with CPU and chassis fan headers. They didn't work with PWM noiseblocker fans.

Love the build; How do you like your cpu cooler, how did you decide to get that one verses lets a noctura? Was the install of the cpu cooler hard to do, and was it easy to install?

  • 1 point

Noctua is ugly :D Noctua has the best mounting system ever. Dark rock 3 is a beautiful black brushed aluminum :)) but mounting system is worse.

I was looking at those cpu coolers. I might pick one up. So how big of a pain are they to install?

My case doesn't have a window on it, so the ugly cpu cooler can't be seen.

With Noctua mounting kit you won't have a pain ;-)

Nice build. How'd you get that fan to fit on the Dark Rock 3? BeQuiet's mounting clips only fit their fans because of the centered (instead of rear and front of the frame) mounting holes.

I've customized the fan clips ;-)

I was hoping they were from another cooler I can buy off the shelf.

Thanks!

Idea is good, but I don't like the color of that fans :-) For future I'planning another build with the same case, but I wanna try another fans: Alpenfohn Wing Boost 2 (black-white). Motherboard maybe EVGA Z270 FTW-K (nice all black color look and also no stupid RGB LEDs). Also will mode MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X (spray plastic cover and heatsink too). I'm really looking forward for this project :-)
