Description

My uncle wanted to buy his son zach a new pc, and hit me up for advice. I sent him parts and two weeks later (12/11/17) he arrived with parts. Will explain difficulties below:

The 88r has like no room to cable manage, so manage wisely!

No clue why this gpu isnt in pcpartpicker, as i found it from pcpartpicker. This rx560 from asus is the 1024 core version, 2gb, and got it for $115 from bhphotovideo

Amazon was the main

All went together very easily, but lack of space to cable manage made it a little difficult to finalise.

Dad works in the IT field so he can get windows 10 home for $25 or pro for $35 directly from microsoft.

Will do benchmarks soon.

I Chose the parts i did because i want this to last him a very long time, and he can upgrade to a better cpu and gpu down the line if he needs to.

EDIT: Benchmarks are screenshots! i have not really overclocked yet, but my lazy *** got it to 3.3 at less than 50c

Part Reviews

Motherboard

Awesome board! Only 3 fan headers total, would like atleast 4

Storage

For double the price of a wd blue and 4x the storage, a steal! Pretty fast for putting games on.

Case

The back panel has like no room for cable management, so manage wisely. Once its on and the screws are in, its a really nice case with support for a 240 rad in the front

Power Supply

SILENT! Oh my god. Qst experience with a seasonic and i love it! Too bad its not for me

Case Fan

Push alot of air at low noise, but the leds only get brighter if the fan ramps up

Ummmm.... ahh whatever, it's a PC, it will turn on anyway. But those are some pretty questionable selection of parts tbh.

I don't know, I think it's pretty solid. Nice upgrade path and he'll never need another HDD again. Why not?

I'll put an SSD in anything nowadays. They just make any computer so much faster.

yeah 4tb and a ssd is totally overkill for having something like a ryzen 3 1200, its clear thats going to a huge steam library and a weirdo that downloads all his ****

it was $99.. 1tb was $45. Also, his Dad may use it as a photo archive, as he is a photographer

Thorough imaging, shows the builds process, I love that build! +1 P.S. did you use a usb stick to install windows? i have never installed it before and am curious.

You can install Windows through USB or your normal CD drive.

I never installed windows from USB untill a week ago. I have an older gigabyte motherboard and i got shocked! Prepare the USB-Stick with windows tool or another program(rufus). When you turn on the computer, press F12 and select to run from the USB stick.

And just like that you have fresh install :)

PS: I read somewhere you should have connected only the HDD you want to install windows on, to prevent weird stuff ;) when you finish instalation connect the others.

YES, I love rufus and this is all great! If I only have SSD would that mean I have that connected?

i thing this was a very ...dramatic topic in the Last streaming Lan Show from Linus Tech Tips.. that AMD realease version of rx560 with 1gb gddr5 but not saying in the box it was !... So weird product. And i can tell from the product, looks like a very OLD asus "Design" Graphic card.... wao.. kinda reminds me the times whit that EVGA Gtx970 3.5 GDDr5 graphics card.. not 4gb.

(When I wrote this below I had not yet read JheyoDELperu above. Please note that I was not the first person to recognize this unusual move by ASUS within this thread. I offer it just to add to what JheyoDELperu already said.)

I also noticed that the ASUS 560 2GB version is not listed but a 4GB is picked up by pcpartpicker. It was puzzling. However, after comparing the two I found this:

https://www.pcworld.com/article/3240264/components-graphics/amd-quietly-radeon-rx-560-graphics-cards-worse.html

Update: AMD replied to our questions with the following statement:

“It’s correct that 14 Compute Unit (896 stream processors) and 16 Compute Unit (1024 stream processor) versions of the Radeon RX 560 are available. We introduced the 14CU version this summer to provide AIBs and the market with more RX 500 series options. It’s come to our attention that on certain AIB and etail websites there’s no clear delineation between the two variants. We’re taking immediate steps to remedy this: we’re working with all AIB and channel partners to make sure the product descriptions and names clarify the CU count, so that gamers and consumers know exactly what they’re buying. We apologize for the confusion this may have caused.”

Quick question. The build looks very nice and clean but I have some questions on the PSU.

What cables come with it because I just need to make sure that it has 3 cords from storage and optical drive.

I know that one of the sata cords has 4 connectors.
