Description

This is the first PC I have built in 10 years. It will be replacing a Asus G73jh laptop that served me well but I wanted something with a bit more power now.

I got my motherboard Saturday evening so by Saturday night it was finished!

Before I installed windows I updated the BIOS on the Motherboard (it's really nice you can do it over wifi). After Windows install I updated the BIOS on the GPU.

Decided to delid the CPU the next day and saw some decent temperature drops. Still reading about the best settings for OC in BIOS. (right now it's @ 5ghz 1.35v). Prime 95 is max < 60c with avx the 0 offset.

I really enjoyed this process and reddit's build a pc helped me a bit on selecting the hardware. Everything seems to be running nice and smooth pretty quiet. (Don't have tools to measure db)

I was gonna take some good pictures but I don't feel like waiting anymore so my cellphone will have to do.

EDIT: Some people helped me to realize that my AIO fans were pushing hot air from my case to the rad and out the front instead of sucking air in through the front. Switched them around now thanks for the help I uploaded a picture of the proper fan config now.

Also, changed voltage to 1.25 @ 5ghz 0 avx. Now 57 max for prime 95

Feel free to use it! If you don't own Adobe Lightroom, I highly suggest it. That edit took me about 5 mins.

10 years between builds and it’s like you’ve been doing it your whole life. Such a polished result. Love the black on black on black. Very impressive.

Where's the intake?

  • 1 point

There are holes on the opposite side of the case that the aio sucks air from.

Looking at the pictures, they're are all in a exhaust configuration. The rears are fine being exhaust as they should be. It's really the radiator fans that concerns me as they're also exhaust. They should and most definitely be reconfigured as intakes.

Really? Yeah I want them as intakes I'll have to check on that when I get home. Are you suggesting just flipping the fans around or flipping them and moving them to the other side of the rad

  • 1 point

As long as the radiator fans are flipped :)

I was reading this https://babeltechreviews.com/evga-closed-loop-cpu-cooler-clc-280-review/2/

and it seems like the fans are correct? I am confused haha maybe I'll just have to wait until later to check.

Edit. Checked out Tom's hardware I think you might be correct!

I'm thinking of doing my first build soon, and really like this case and want to know if you had to use cable extenders for your psu?

  • 2 points

Nope works perfect without extensions. I tested everything in the case without the extensions first

I would have done the fans the original way , facing out, as well. So now I know better.

Great post and uniquely amazing build, the black (or is it black matte?) is really killer. I would never have thought to do that and I don't think I've seen that design anywhere ever. Good on ya.

It's just for general purposes. I may game from time to time but I don't really play anything at the moment.
