I had the Motherboard, CPU, Ram and GPU already, might as well make something out of it.

It works pretty good for a 8 year old CPU tbh

Assassin's Creed Odyssey runs at max detail 1080p 55 FPS AVG, not bad.

The CPU, RAM, and MoBo are not meant to last forever. He's aware that it's an old CPU, but he doesn't have a PC at all right now, so this will last him for a while until he decides to upgrade.

Part Reviews

For an old CPU, it performs exceptionally.

CPU Cooler

It cools pretty good, but the size is ridiculous. I could only install it 1 way on my motherboard because if I was to rotate it 90 degrees the pipes would cover the ram slots 3&4. If I put the fan on the other side the fan would cover the ram slot 4.

Didn't have usb 3 header until 1.3, rip

Pleasantly surprised with this SSD, it boots windows 10 within a second of as fast as my M2 960 EVO.

Wow, I love this case. I have a H440 for my old gaming rig and this thing is built so much better.

Wireless Network Adapter

What can I say? the thing works better than my ethernet... somehow... like literally my ethernet is 28ms ping, the wireless is 16ms ping, I don't get it.

For a guy with a core 2 duo and gt 320m laptop, that looks sweet regardless of bottlenecks +1

Thats really nice of you building that for a friend.

You quite clearly stated the cpu is old so I don't know why that commentor needed to state it.

Honestly though it isnt even a bad CPU. It can overclock into modern titles well. Best friend uses it still.

Bottlenecking is purely subjective, so it won't always happen

aye you are right, but for sure in cpu intensive games such as like odyssey mentioned by op, it will be held back pretty hard, especially with a special edition overclocking card such as the evga card specified on the build.

I had almost all the parts already, it's not meant to be forever. I'm selling the pc to him for $700, A 1080 classified goes for about $500 on ebay, with the rest of the parts I put in it for him, that's a steal. the 2500k/ddr3 isn't supposed to be forever. he has no computer right now and understand that the CPU is a bottleneck
