Description

There's not much to talk about here, but I'll try to break it down a little. The Ryzen 3 2200g is great for budget gaming and amazing as a current gen desktop APU, plus it's unlocked if that's your thing. The motherboard fits the bill in both price and features, and it's pretty much black, so no complaints there. The RAM is Micron B die, CAS 15, dual channel, and clocked at 2999Mhz with the XMP profile for them. Good kit, and they're fast enough to get good preformance out of the Ryzen iGPU. The SSD is quite fast for it's price range, and I had no problems with it. Around 450 mb/s can be expected for read in general. The HDD I got for free, and it's totally fast enough to handle my documents, downloads, pictures, etc. The case checked a lot of boxes for me, and is a decent budget case, with room for good cable management, a side panel window, dual USB 3, and dust filters. The PSU is quite nice, considering it's semi-modular. I'd personally recommend a 450 of this same PSU, as the $20 could go back into the build for something like RGB fans, or a light strip, as the motherboard has an RGB header. Finally, I purchased a cheap red LED case fan to accent the front of the build, and to help with airflow.

EDIT: That is a temporary setup to finish installing Windows and updating everything. I'll post my permanent setup photos later...

EDIT 2: I might add a 1050ti later on, but the Ryzen 3's iGPU with fairly fast RAM like the kit I used is comparable to something like a 1030.

Part Reviews

CPU

Solid APU option for anyone with a budget.

Motherboard

Intial hiccup with RAM XMP compatibility, but a BIOS update fixed it. Check your RAM before buying. Other than that, nice board, and good looking too.

Memory

Decent dual channel option for a budget ryzen build. It's also Micron B die.

Storage

Best SSD for under $30. Uncontested preformance for such a low price.

Storage

For free it works, but better options for cheaper if you're looking to buy.

Case

Fun case to build in, looks good, plenty of useful features.

Power Supply

Semi-modular PSU that looks good, works good, and isn't too loud...

I love it! I have the same 2200g and the same case. I am looking at upgrading my rig to a ryzen 1700 and using the 2200g for a build for my dad. the vega 8 is enough to play some games, but don't expect expert results. I upgraded to a free r9 380x and the difference between it and the vega 8 is astounding.

Heh, I don't really need that much preformance. This isn't really a gaming PC. It can play some triple A's at med 720p, and some esports at higher 1080p, but the most I'm going to throw at this is some emulators, like Dolphin.

Overkill power supply or are you planning to add more as time goes?

Op supply for a 100w system, but I might upgrade in the future, but a 450w probably would've cut it. The lowest Best Buy had was a 650w, and I was building on Christmas. Waited too long to buy it, so ended up going with the 650.

the 2200g is already pretty powerful on graphics performance so you can just it by itself.

You're totally right.

For the most I play, a 1050ti is major overkill, unless I want to run Dolphin at 4k.

It's in the CPU.

The 2200g is capable and the op has said he might add a 1050 ti in the future

You can pick up a 1050ti for around $120 with shipping. If I end up needing something to handle some more modern emulators, seems like a decent option.

Heh, I don't really play many games. Aside from that, it's meant more for lower settings, and definitely esports titles if anything. Again, I don't play games hardly, and the most I'd throw at it is Dolphin, and I might try Yuzu.

Probably not me, considering the iGPU on the 2200g is quite good with speedy RAM.
