Description

I have had like 3 laptops and the last one was meant for gaming, long story short it sucked so I started looking for high end gaming laptops, for a setup like this (same gpu but different cpu) will cost more than this!

Check my instagram: @medokn

What I might upgrade to later: Get a better case? 4K monitor? M.2 SSD? *Maybe a 240mm liquid cooler. done More ram? Maybe an RGB strip or two lol. Of course I have at least 2 hard drives if someone is wondering. I added 3 corsair sp120's in the front...

Fans at full speed ON STOCK COOLER: cpu@3.7ghz 1.3v Idle GPU: 35C Idle CPU: 34C load GPU(Heaven 4.0): 68C load CPU (Aida 64): 75C

Part Reviews

CPU

Really nice performance for what you pay for compared to what intel offers, if you're into video editing, multitasking, gaming, virtual machines, 3d rendering (wait is that a gpu thing lol) etc. Yes you can get 5-10% more performance on a similarly priced i7 in gaming but you'd lose ~50% on anything else. Basically a $330 from amd vs $1000 from intel for 8 cores...

CPU Cooler

I got the updated version with am4 instructions (and a sticker on the box), the installation took time and effort but overall great temps for the price (i got it on sale).

Motherboard

Really nice looking board with just the right features and more, kind of lacking in terms of sata ports and included accessories but overall fantastic. And has RGB.

Memory

It's ram, it's fast, definitely recommended especially if you're rocking an amd ryzen cpu, it really benefits from faster ram

Storage

No the fastest thing, but certainly goes faster once you raid-0 two of them.

Video Card

Totally overkill for what I do right now, def getting a 4K monitor soon.

Case

Its most selling point is its looks, in practice, you might find some difficulties with handling this case, first of all, the different types of screws that came in a box in this case are not labelled, definitely a frustration for a first time builder like me, second, the side panel with the window is hard to open or close, and there is just not enough cable tie holes, but I like how many drive cages it has and the front SSD mounts that can be seen from the window, and can be oriented in any direction because its close enough to the mobo's cutouts and also has its own cutout on the other side, its actually easy to build in this thing once you get used to how it is built, you definitely get some nice room for your large hands with the opening up top, I would recommend this if you're looking at this price range and want the best looking case to show off with its large curved window... Edit: so i found a graph that shows what screws go where on the manual or their website (1 problem solved).

Power Supply

Its 650W, more than enough, wasn't really interested in the gold efficiency thingy and wanted something cheaper but I think that it will last for a long time, but I think you generally get better quality components as their efficiency increases, also didn't mind the semi modular thing but its a bonus. Ah also black cables.

Monitor

I chose to get this ultrawide so that I could get a little bit of immersion in a small space, definitely not the highest resolution or the best, but does the job for right now...

Mouse

The best and most comfortable of the budget mice that I have tried, recommended!

Other

Has good feel to the keys and silent enough and satisfying response, does not have the greatest manual and frustrating to set to one color statically other than white, but overall good. Edit: So after that I figured out how to configure a custom light (static), first of all, you have to press ALL KEYS and set your desired colour, and when you set your keyboard to one of three on-board profiles, you can't use the windows key! lmao.

Good to see AMD back in the mix in a meaningful way. We were getting screwed over by Intel. Still getting screwed over by Nvidia.

Competition...it's needed!

medokn submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Lol

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Well I really wanted a killer system that I will not have to upgrade every year, I might get Vega if I could sell my 1080 and not lose much, an rx480 could have been good for my resolution (currently) because I did not find any 4K monitors that are cheap enough, I will upgrade soon to a better monitor once there is cash (lol) and later see what vega brings...

local_memelord 2 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

looks like a subwoofer built into the case lol

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Lol, well my dad thought it was some sort of weird intake technique lol.

savageschoolboy 2 points 9 months ago

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Looool

st3roids -4 points 9 months ago

Great workstation Cpu and a cool case =)

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks

iTasticc 2 points 9 months ago

How'd you cool the CPU?

jdcnawy 2 points 9 months ago

there's the Wraith Spire LED cooler included with the 1700

iTasticc 2 points 9 months ago

is that a decent cooler?

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

I think so, check youtube for bitwit and everyone else

jdcnawy 2 points 9 months ago

its better than the average stock cooler

iTasticc 2 points 9 months ago

Alright thx

st3roids 2 points 9 months ago

run into any bios or ram problems ?

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Still havent built it, hopefully in a few hours

st3roids 2 points 9 months ago

ok good luck let us know , im between 7700k and 1700x , i wont be planning 100-144hz gaming so it doesnt rly matter much the diference between clocks.

im more concern about mobo problems and ram issues however

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Testing rn

medokn submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

New bios is out...

Still not getting 3200

CaptainBlaze818 2 points 9 months ago

What CPU Cooler Did you decide On?

I would like to know for a Ryzen build that Needs a Cooler as the Ryzen Chip that i have chosen does not have a cooler.

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Stock for me for now, I think a 240/280mm will suit you (a 95w cpu?) , also make sure that it is am4 compatible. You can also go air cooling.

CaptainBlaze818 2 points 9 months ago

I'm wanting to do air cooling, as liquid cooling tends to be more expensive and introduces a risk of the coolant leaking onto your PC parts.

And I found an air cooler after watching a few YouTube videos lol

thx tho!

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

glad to hear, the stock cooler with the 1700 gets to 90C in prime95 (the extreme setting), but in real usage around 60C and in gaming 70C, and i also think i messed up the thermalpaste, going to try to re apply a new one soon and test more...

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

definitely not a thermal paste issue, i might get a 240mm aio sometime later

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Also would like to know what cooler did you choose.

CaptainBlaze818 2 points 8 months ago

I chose the Noctua NH-U12S SE-AM4 CPU Cooler

RaptorMeezus 2 points 8 months ago

Question: Where did you find the case? I can't seem to find it anywhere online.

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

ummm... locally, in the uae.

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 8 months ago

try ebay

medokn submitter 1 Build 2 points 7 months ago

I'm slowly upgrading stuff

Swapped out the fans for better ones (F12 to SP120)

And soon the cooler (stock to MasterLiquid 240)

And later a 4K monitor...

Gooberdad 7 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Overkill.....just a way to add time between upgrades.

Going to overclock?

medokn submitter 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Of course.

Gooberdad 7 Builds 2 points 9 months ago

Good deal. AMD are the overclock kings.

Donutman125 1 point 9 months ago

I don't really see the point of Liquid cooling on Ryzen, it seems that you can get the same clock speeds out of the chips with an air cooler that's half the price.

Anyway, cool looking pc, +1.

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Thanks

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Omg i cannot believe that I'm finally done!

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Pics really looks worse after uploading lol

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 7 months ago

I know that a new bios is out but I'm currently away from home for a short while.

Jimothy4242 1 point 6 months ago

Does the fan looking thing at the front plug into a fan header?

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

No, it is controlled by a button at the io to control color/brightness/turn off/ slow or fast rainbow and i remember that it is powered by sata (not sure will check in 2 days) as soon as i arrive home and flash a new bios and upgrade the cooler to a masterliquid 240 and a 4tb hdd because i got a panasonic g7 and i shoot a lot of 4k video and stills and i will be planning to get a 4k monitor in the near future. Gpu wise im happy with a 1080 seeing as vega fe needs improvement and im not gonna pay $1000 maybe $700 max and the ti does not feel like a huge jump (yes 35% is a lot but not for the price lol)

Jimothy4242 1 point 6 months ago

Okay thanks, I was looking to get this case for my ryzen build

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

meh read my comments down below

edit: also the review above

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 6 months ago

hmm so i looked up the website for the case and they actually have a graph that shows what screws go where (i guess also the manual) lol

BadassPanther 1 Build 0 points 9 months ago

I don't know what it is.. but I really hate that case..?

medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

What I hate about it: Non captive thumb screws. Hard to remove side panel(the windowed one). No a lot of cable tie hoops. No grommets. The bottom hdd slot are hard to pull. Included screws are not catagorized, for a first time builder it was frustrating and i think a screw of the 9 to install the mobo was missing lol. Thumb screws were hard to remove with a thumb when it arrived but a screw driver did the trick. Also installing them with a thumb works but found it a little harder (maybe alignment issues) though that both panels were flush...

But most of those I can't complain for the price,

What I like about it: Looks (Dope window). Compactness. Showing off SSDs. Possibly show off GPU but a cable is needed, thus I currently removed the vertical mount, also to make installing cables easier. RGB ring anyone? Lol.

I was actually looking to buy the view 27 but a local retailer had the 28 for like $1 more lol.

Its got 2 3.5" bays. 3 2.5" on the front of the motherboard tray. 1 2.5" behind the motherboard. I can install 6 2.5"'s lol.

BadassPanther 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

I had a feeling it would be something like that.

+1 for Ryzen though buddy :p

RGB Ring of some sorts lol

[comment deleted by staff]
medokn submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Oh because I had one already and instead of buying and expensive 500gb ssd (what I nead at least) I thought that I would raid 0 two of them and get faster speeds... Havent done this before lol
