Description

Productivity (Adobe) and Gaming while streaming. My 3200mhz ram only runs stable at 2666mhz for now till a future bios update corrects this problem with the Hynix ram chips. I overclocked it to 4.025ghz with only a cpu multiplier change and vcore is stock at 1.35. I ran cinebench R15 and my score was 1746 pts, I let it run aida64 for over an hour and my maxx recorded temp on the CPU was 52c .. I am Extremely Impressed with the 1800X and I am (was) an Intel Fan since 2002 . The last new AMD Cpu I bought was an athlon 600mhz... My last months build was an I7-7700K using the same not overclocked gtx1080 and 16gb ram, I cant tell the difference between the two gaming, but when i stream live at 1080p 60fps 3500kb, My i7- 7700k would fall on its face. Thanks for looking and thanks pcpartpicker for an awesome site to help us Enthusiasts.

Is the 7700k really that slow?

Anyhow really quality looking build and perfect because I have a few pending shopping carts with your exact parts!

The I7-7700K just gaming was great (snappy) but I really had to monitor my resources, shut down background apps or I would see studdering and fps dips .. and twitch streaming 1080p was choppy even playing unreal tournament goty 1999 ... so it wasnt so much slow but it was about maxed out, not much headroom. I am not claiming to be an expert but I am just speaking from someone that owns both.. you probably cant tell the difference in windows between the stock 7700K at 4.2ghz and the 1800X at 3.6ghz unless you are multitasking.. I have my 1800X overclocked to 4.1ghz and my ram at 2933mhz.. and from what I know now.. I would just buy the ryzen 1700 ( ebay $290.00 bin free ship new with cooler) and overclock it to 3.8ghz (on water) and forget about it.. I should just sell my 7700k to replace it with a r7 1700 on a asus b350m.. future proof and money saved.. just my opinion thanks... sorry for the slow response time..

The 7700k lacks 4 cores that are really necessary for streaming. Any of the i5-7s just can't handle the CPU usage that's thrown at them by OBS. I'm having the same issue and will probably update to Ryzen because of it.

One thing.. Very nice build, but I would get custom sleeved cables from cablemod to give it that extra touch

Does the Wi-Fi work on Windows 10?

yes but you do need the win10 64bit driver from the install cd or mfg web site.. win 10 wont identify or auto install.... i have 2 of these and for $20.00 each they are awesome.. they have great range as well at the 5ghz band ..

Lol seeing this build makes me laugh at myself. Have an old HP Compaq with an i5 660 4gb ram and a new gtx 1050 ti xD.

is there clearance for the radiator for the top of the case? I'm thinking of getting the Trident Z rgb ram, which is about 3-4mm taller than corsair vengeance lpx ram, do you think it would fit?

the upper radiator mount holes in the case for the 240mm rad are offset atleast 1" away from motherboard and ram. you might even be able to do a push/pull depending on the specific mb fans and 240mm rad. you decide on.. my opinion is mount the 240mm rad in the front and if you feel you need to go overkill with the cooling, use a 360mm in the front.. theres plenty of room.. as well as the option for push/pull on a 360mm rad or just go with the h115 280mm in push/pull.. honestly my h100i v2 peaks at 74c max in aida64 running over an hour. temps are verifyed using ryzen master as there is still a 20c offset..everything that shows the cpu temp reads 20c higher than amd's ryzen master.. and that 74c is on the quiet fan setting in the corsair link software,.. my daily overclock is 4.025Ghz at 1.40v. bios F6 non beta. no problems at all on it or my other completed build also a ryzen 1700 @3.625ghz, ab350m gaming 3 with the stock wraith cooler

was the ram speed issue with this motherboard sorted? I am building a similar build and I already bought this mobo + cpu, yet to buy ram

yes the AMD agesa 1.0.0.6 micro code bios update cured most if not all ram incompatability issues.. prior to the agesa update, I bought 16gb 2x8 g.skil flare X 3200mhz ddr4 memory and it worked perfect with XMP profile ... prior my corsair vengenance lpx 3200 only ran at 2933mhz but after the update. my 3200 flare x now overclocks to 3333mhz and i get 3200mhz on the corsair veng. lpx as well as some trident z 3200mhz ram that i have for my current i7-7700K build..(to finance my next threadripper build)

Thanks.. the h100i v2 has really stiff hoses so i had to finesse them to get them the relax where they are now. i still need to smoke test the case to see the path of airflow as well as if i need to add 2 more fans ontop.. and/ or if i have positive or neg internal pressure.. My 1080 is stock and it still gets up to 80c faster than it did in my mini itx. Build
