Description

Mostly going to be using this for gaming. FO4, WoW, OW, etc.. Got everything for relatively cheaper than market for the most part, left room to get more RAM, better PSU, cooler, and even SLI should my situation allow it. I tend to hold onto a computer for a long time (last one stuck around for 6 years) so squeezing as much as I could into my budget with the ability to upgrade with minimal cost as time goes on was most important for me.

Getting the 1070 allows me to upgrade to SLI in the future should I need it, where the 1060 wouldn't. Getting a single stick of 16 GB allows me to get another 16 GB in the future if/when I need it. Getting the EVO allows me to cool my computer for now, while also being compatible with my old AM3 machine that I handed down to my kids, so when I upgrade to water cooling, I can slap the EVO on theirs for better cooling. The 6700k allows me to overclock a decent amount when I have adequate cooling for it. Just some of the things I factored in when making my purchasing decisions.

Part Reviews

Thermal Compound

I put this in my part list because it was just in my cart at the time.. I use this stuff on everything and I just ran out recently. The EVO came with Cooler Master branded thermal paste, but I still used the brand I know, trust, and have used for years.

Motherboard

No complaints so far. Probably one of the best deals of this build. $77 was the total price after rebates for both the Mobo & Case.

Case

Not one of the fanciest cases, but it works, and it was a free gift with the Mobo. It's a bit clunky, the edges where wires go through aren't protected, and it has a bit of a very quiet rattle to it when the fan spins up. The glossy front and top are dust magnets.

Power Supply

Works well. Gold rated and I trust SeaSonic PSUs more than any others. It was also $10 cheaper than what's listed here, but for some reason I couldn't change the price.

How does/will this run WoW? I'm looking into building my own PC for about 800-1000 and hoping to find something that will run well on med-high graphics. p.s. I'm a noob and know nothing about computers tbh so still learning lmfao.

SSD makes load time almost nothing, 6700k makes the game play smoothly, and the 1070 handles shadows/particles/etc perfectly.

People like to down on WoW because at one point, anything could play it. I ran it at 60+ fps on a 250 GTS in the past. Nowadays, a 750 Ti will barely cut it for even just barely decent settings. That said, WoW is incredibly CPU intensive, so that's probably the most important if you're building a PC specifically for WoW.

The case sticks out a bit where the window is, so about an inch and a half to 2 inches or so.

If it's only 4mm taller, then yes.
