I use this machine for gaming, and it still does well, but definitely needs an upgrade soon. Everything worked well, just always have trouble with the hdd, since it is quite old. I build this in 2015 and it was my first custom pc, I loved the experience of making it. I recently upgraded the case and decided to spray paint some of the components. It was an enjoyable and knowledgeable experience. I learned to do and what not to do. Learned that I really need to get some sandpaper, and to not spray so much at once. Thanks for checking out my build. I cannot wait to start my next build.

Part Reviews

Now that Ryzen is out it isn't as compelling of a deal as it used to be, but when I got it, it was exactly what I needed and is till great now.

CPU Cooler

Great cooler for a cheap price. If you want to overclock a little bit, and for cheap, this is a great cooler.

Okay m-ATX board with a basic bios, and not alot of expansion, but what can I expect from a cheap board?

It works great, is just enough for gaming, and doesn't look bad.

My drive is about 5 years old now, so it isn't as good as it was, but a Hard Drive is a Hard Drive.

Video Card

An amazing card for the price, compared to what is out now it isn't too good, but it is still a great card for what I'm doing.

An absolutely fantastic case for the price, offers so many features for such a low pricepoint.

Power Supply

I've had this thing for 5 years and it always feels like something is going to go wrong with it. It isn't a bad psu, but it isn't one you should use for a long time. It's like a psu in a pre-built, it's a cheap off brand that you never trust to run your system, but it's the best you can do.

Sweet build!

And although SOME prebuilts can come with decent power supplies, I would definitely make that your very first upgrade, nothing worse than having your PSU take your whole investment down with it.

I like the build. The fx 6300 is still a very nice chip for gaming. That said it's a great time to update your CPU.

It's pretty much agreed by most that the R5 1600 is the best CPU you can buy for the money. It's a big step up from older AMD chips, but wont improve your gaming dramatically. With the new AMD cpus you'll have access to faster RAM, NVME, and an AM4 motherboard which has 4 more years of new processors confirmed for it.

You could sell your old motherboard. ram and CPU which would help towards the new ones. Also most importantly, you need to get an SSD. You'll notice it a lot. You only need a 120gb, and you can reinstall windows on it, so you have a fresh start. Your system will run WAY faster. then you can use your HDD for games.

Also an rx 470 would be a pretty substantial upgrade from your 1050. but theyre all sold out at the moment :/

Sweet build! As fraglepuss stated, now is a great time to upgrade the CPU. The Ryzen 5 1600 or 1600X have great value. and yeah, a 120 SSD for the OS is a great Idea :D +1
