I didn't have a better name, sorry.
Alright, I'll put together a few thoughts to preface. A month or so ago I finished my first watercooling build. Needless to say, I loved every minute of that project. However, I didn't really like how the liquid wasn't as green as it was in the reservoir, being translucent not much to do about that. As fortune would have it, I was able to do something a bit different and I came into some more funds.
I didn't have a reason to upgrade, but I always wanted an X99 platform. I looked through a bunch of research and decided on the 6800K. Why?
A. I didn't need X99 in the first place, it was mostly just for lulz - no sense in dropping stupid cash. B. Slightly better feature set than the 5820k, for less than $100 difference. C. 6850k was honestly just too much $$$ for me to justify, seeing as I would never see a return on the extra $200 for my uses.
Now to find a motherboard! Everything I saw looked boring as ****. My entire setup was black, chrome and _ , I wanted something purely one of those colors (mostly black). I tend to gravitate towards EVGA/ASUS parts, but I didn't care for the EVGA boards and their styling this time around. Then I found the Asus Rampage Edition 10, I didn't even know what it was, never heard of it before, but **** budgets it's everything I wanted aesthetically. Literally the only reason I spent a retarded amount of money on this board, **** you ASUS I love you. I did end up being super nit picky with the board, I RMAd 2 of them before NewEgg ran out and I drove an hour up to Mircocenter in DC to pick this one up on a wim. Red headed lady at the counter, super nice, let me check this thing out before purchase, thank you ma'am. At $600, I wasn't accepting slightly flawed.q
I started, with 16GB of RAM because that's literally all I would need. It looked so lonely, and **** budgets again 32GB. I removed the stickers from the G. Skill Ripjaws 4 because quite simply it clashed. Really easy to do, peel, use minute amounts of GooGone and viola!
I removed the four case fans because literally no point in them being there - this thing doesn't go over 50C on anything stressed.
I just painted the new EVGA bridge, I still want to change the LED on that to blue but for now it's still white. I am over the fricken moon how everything turned out, I think it's a massive improvement aesthetically over my last project on this same rig.
