Description

Recently acquired quite a good amount of used parts and I'm super excited about it!

This build started out as a craigslist find. A guy was selling a case, motherboard, and cpu for $50. I flipped the case for $30 (it was a HAF X I had NO room for) which means I got the CPU and motherboard for $20 :)

I grabbed a 16GB kit of RAM off of eBay to test the board out and thankfully it all worked. The stock cooler that came with the board was in really bad shape though, so I had to grab a new one.

Otherwise, the rest of the parts were scavenged off of some different towers from a variety of places. Put it all together and it works great!

I actually tried out making a YouTube video for this one and hopefully I'll have some more in the future: https://youtu.be/XOgbSEggSnA

Part Reviews

CPU

Surprisingly capable for its age.

CPU Cooler

Not much of a cooler. On par with Intel's stock.

Video Card

Cooler does an excellent job keeping the GPU cool. Love the looks of the card, as well.

Case

Good amount of room for cable management and great airflow.

Make sure you use the GRC Spectre and Meltdown tool to turn off Spectre and Meltdown mitigations to get your performance back. Those mitigations took a HUGE hit on these older CPUs.

As well as getting the intel instruction emulator to make it able to play games like apex legends, and help with avx workloads
