Description

After doing the last few builds I posted on here, I really wanted to make something that stood out and challenged myself. To say the least this build was a monster hence the name. From the ridiculous curvy bends that took hours (because I'm a cut twice measure once guy...) to planning the spacing for everything. This case is massive with little working space!

I really wanted to do triple SLI and cool it properly, a lot of people build in this case but for show only with not enough rad coverage or ect. I chose to use the XE radiator from EK as its 60mm thick! The thing is a beast and heavy...I dropped it on my toe while taking it out of the box. Once again I had to use Nvme on this build, its hidden behind the pump/res using a Pcie riser cable.

This build really made think outside of the box and cram things in as close as I possibly could. I'm also really killing myself with cases that show the back wire management...this makes 3 already and it was tough! I'm very happy with all of the results and hope you all enjoy it.

Also under max load the GPU's only hit about 50 degrees!

I also custom painted the X99 Deluxe 3.1 black to better match the build than the white it normally comes in.

Ugh... honestly i did the photo-shoot at almost 1 AM my time and pretty sure wire managing the back gave me a brain aneurysm so i tried and it fought...and it won...

I have seen all you builds and they are nothing short of amazement but first...we have to seen the build......the last 4 shots were the best as no flashes or poor lighting were involved.....maybe you should let Chris handle the photos?? P.S Besides the one bracketed client build are all off your build for personal use?? You got one hell of a catalog....

  • 1 point

Yeah this one wasn't at the office so it had to have my mediocre photography and TBH i really don't want to carry it in again LOL we do a lot of client/custom builds that come into the stores but the ones on here not labeled were for projects/shows and such

  • 1 point

Pretty good.. Not sure why you chose that particular coolant color, though.

  • 1 point

In Win put me in a tough spot sending me the gold edged version...Thought I was getting grey... and Im not a fan of using the yellow coolant with gold so decided to go white with matching gold fittings and let it contrast off the cases on color scheme

Another flawless build from AION-MC! +1 Hey again I see which SSD you picked up with this system, and I have been doing a lot of research on these parts, I'd like to know your opinion on SSD choices. Which one would you say would be more worthwhile for the money. More or less future-proofing the SSD and going with the same intel one that you picked up. Or going with two Samsung 850 Pro 256GB in raid 0. Which would be A LOT cheaper at around $160 and would come near the performance of the Intel. Here is a ling to the benchmarks of the SSDs http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-750-Series-NVMe-PCIe-400GB-vs-Samsung-850-Pro-256GB/m26870vs2385

  • 1 point

Some people may argue this but I'm a Nvme fan and I believe with future driver support it will only get better and with Skylake having more PCIe lanes to accommodate it... why not? Plus one fast drive is better than two drives raided to try and be fast IMHO. I'm just insanely impressed by Nvme and the fact of not running sata cables is awesome lol

  • 1 point

I too am a fan of the NVMe SSDs especially with the upcoming ones from samsung, but is approx. 100GB LESS space worth approx. $150 MORE. Do you love it that much? :P

  • 1 point

Do you want to be in first or last!! J/K honestly its going to be your judment call man. I always go with a single rather than two individual, I just see it as another point of failure IMO. Plus 2k read and write just feels great!

  • 1 point

I cri... What are your opinions on the Samsung m.2 SM951 SSD? It is $200 for 256GB and similar speeds to the intel.

  • 1 point

Honestly I haven't used it myself to tell you but looks solid Samsung makes legit stuff and their NAND controllers are solid

  • 1 point

Damn, that looks good. I've never really been a big fan of open cases, but well done. The only thing I have a problem with is the pump cables aren't sleeved. Everything else is so nice, then bam! Blue and red cables haha. Still deserves my +1!

Yeah I know LOL you guys are going to make me end up sleeving and re-shooting lol but thanks man

  • 1 point

I know I'm late but I wanted to read and look through photos, without being a sleepy headed which I was like 7 hours ago... You totally deserved a feature build. I'm so happy for you! This build is so lovely. Great, amazing work as always from you Aion. +1,000

  • 1 point

On a more technical note, I'm surprised that you are able to achieve those temps with only a single 360mm rad, usually the minimum is 1 fan per component. But thats awesome you were able to get those temps. I have the 980 strix in my build and it runs relatively cooler than some of the other 980's I've played with.

Do you have the pump on the highest setting?

  • 1 point

I agree I was very worried and even if I wanted to mode the case (which I didn't...) there no where else to put a rad because of all the angles! That's why I went with the XE rad at 60mm thick its almost double a regular and its been amazing! Pump is around 80%.

  • 1 point

Wait so did you buy multiple of the cases listed on the part list and take them apart to make this beauty? This is very beautiful. I am hoping once I get into and then finally out of college I will make the money required to create godly beings such as this! 10/10 from me

This is actually a case that's available for purchase...steep purchase price but available. Thanks man we appreciate it.

What fittings did you use for that tubing, I am building a rig with water cooling, and I wanted to know what the best red and black style water cooling parts their are, especially fittings, because I don't know which ones to use, I will be using hard tubing btw.

  • 1 point

So here is my build:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/9yQvxr

Just tell me what fittings you use, Reservoir, and pump.

  • 1 point

It's going to be a great build man parts are well thought out! I used the EKWB HD Gold fittings, xres D5 pump res combo with the 250ml tube installed. I stock all of these things in my store and can have the folks in Slovenia send me anything else you want from them.

Will it run Assassin's Creed Unity?

Anyway have a +1 from me.

  • 1 point

VERY NICE BUILD. I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT INSTANTLY!! anyways, how are the temperatures? i mean 980 is not the hottest card in the world, but 3 of them and 140w tdp cpu and rams in a single loop with only 360mm rad... that would be quite a challenge to cool those suckers.. i know that u said GPU's hit about 50 degrees, then about the CPU? what are the clock speeds for your gpu and cpu and even memory? these are not opposition to your part choice, but just a mere question because i think imma do something similar to what you did

again kudos for your pc and thanks for sharing such magnificent pc and answering my questions XD

  • 1 point

Thanks man! The temps are actually really good...I'm actually surprised. The cpu is at 4.2Ghz and i didn't mess with ram voltage. Under heavy load CPU can get to about mid 50's (which is higher than I'd like but still works) but usually idles between 28-32. The XE rad from EK really handles the load! It is like 1 1/2 times thicker than most rads used... I would've definitely added another smaller rad but the case is a monster and devours any hope and inspiration you can think of...hence the name

  • 1 point

Wow 50's for both cpu and gpus? I must admit that I'm actually quite impressed by that monstrous rad of ek. How about those new ek vardar fans? I saw many reviewers saying that they are actually some performance fans but I would love to hear first person opinion regarding not only its cooling capacity but also acoustics, static pressure and so on.

And YES! The s frame from inwin is simply a true masterpiece for a computer case. Just gorgeous... but with a staggering price tag TT

Oh I have another questions. How many fitting did u use? Cuz u said u did a lot of bends instead of using those 90 degrees fittings or whatsoever. And how much did u spend on those if u don't mind sharing?

I have to say that I'm in love with this build. I let it be known on Tom's. That case is $1,000 and I can't afford it, but man does this build make me want to buy it! Lol.

  • 1 point

So why the Ram cooling? Aesthetics?

  • 1 point

Pretty much lol Ram is overclocked and voltage increased but mainly for the look

  • 1 point

You didn't post your overclocks. When you edit your completed build you can change the info in the lower left of the page (way lower).

  • 1 point

All this running off a single what are temps interested because I'm getting 2 480s and 1 240 and 1 120 in the primo

  • 1 point

The temps are actually really good, the rad is a XE which is EKWB's thickest radiator. Cpu gets to around 50-55 under full load and highest Ive ever seen the cards get is around 50. IF you've got the space to add more I always recommend it though, never enough rads lol.
