Description
A very unnecessary but at the same time totally and completely necessary build.
This build started a good year or two back (remember when GPUs and RAM was cheap?) and slowly I have completed the build. The motherboard/RAM/CPUs were purchased from Natex.Us - I paid around $550US for them which was a killer deal.
Re. the colour; it is actually purple. My camera seems convinced at times it is blue though.
I modded pretty much every part of this case because (who knew) Server cases are ugly. The top panel has a hole cut in it for a piece of acrylic I have yet to cut
(Yes Everything is in RAID-0. It backs up nightly to my NAS)
Part Reviews
CPU
For $150 for a pair it honestly can't be beat. The IPC is a little on the low end but any workflow that benefits from multithreading will get to stretch it's muscles here
CPU Cooler
Cheap. Works.
Manages to keep the Xeon's cool though not sure I'd trust it to a higher TDP chip. The included 'RGB' fan is gaudy as all hell- I would have much preferred a plain black one.
