Used for playing Insurgency:Sandstorm and DOOM 2016 mostly. It drives a 3440x1440 Alienware AW3418DW 120Hz G-Sync Ultrawide very well. I usually play more competitively at low settings, and therefore max out the 120Hz refresh rate. I always have G-Sync on because screen tearing is unbearable.
The i9-9900K overclocked all cores to 5GHz fairly easily, temps are anywhere from 29 C to 79 C at max synthetic load. When normally playing games for a few hours, both the CPU and GPU sit at around 65 C.
RAM clock speeds are fast at 3600MHz, but timings aren't the best. It all evens out in the end though, no difference noted in games compared to my last 3000MHz kit. I replaced the memory because the last set was defective and caused inconsistent BSODs.
MSI Z390 MEG ACE has permanent red indicator lights. There's nothing wrong hardware or software wise, and therefore I've simply covered them up with modest electrical tape.
Ryzen still doesn't match Intel when it comes to gaming performance. I don't use this rig for workloads, editing, production, art or anything you'd need over 8 cores for. Just gaming, entertainment, and basic school work.
Would love to hear your thoughts and any suggestions for improvement.
Overclocked beautifully to 5 GHz while using NZXT Kraken X62 in an NZXT H500.
Generally works, lighting doesn't look perfect with LED's out and plastic reflective highlights visible. Go for Corsair or Cooler Master.
Does its' job.
Great motherboard, USB 3.0 header came with bent pin out of the box. If you don't have a keen eye for stuff like that it would seem like you had a defective board. Luckily I was able to bend it back.
Great price, but just go for Trident Z or Corsair Dominator at 3200MHz.
Phenomenal card. Runs AAA titles like Battlefield V and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at 120 FPS on my 3440 x 1440p 120Hz G-Sync monitor (AW3418DW). Best GPU for those who's budgets lack the room for a 2080 TI.
Way better than anything AMD has, that's for sure.. ;)
Great case, wish it could fit a EVGA Z390 Dark EATX motherboard.
Amazing. Make sure your GPU can drive it.
Great lighting, wish it was a bit brighter. Macro keys get in the way of FPS controls. In my case, I use the "ctrl" key for hold crouching in FPS games, and my pinky hits the bottom macro key every time I actuate that.
Not all games support mapping of the macro keys. If you're super experienced with macro binding it might work for you though.
