Description
Building this for my son for Christmas, so I hope he approves with how it turned out.
He really liked the S340 case with the Hyper Beast theme when I showed it to him this past summer, so I centered the build around that, which was fun. He is into gaming as well as music, so I upgraded the headphones and speakers. My favorite parts are the SSD covers from Acrylikustoms, the custom length cables from Mod-One, and the graphics card bracket from MNPC Tech.
I know this might seem like a ridiculous pc for a 13 year old, but he has been gaming on a terrible system for the past 5 years without complaining too much and really is a great kid, so I have been saving up to get this for him. I'm also hoping this will get him through high school without having to do any upgrades. We might add a new graphics card and possibly a 4k monitor in a few years, but I think everything else should hold up for a while.
The build went together without any problems at all. I did mod the Kraken radiator with some orange paint and added diffusers on the led strips to eliminate the hot spots somewhat. Also, I know the ram is a little excessive, but it matched the build and he might need 32 GB at some point and by that time it might cost over $1000, lol. I was able to OC the CPU to 4.9 at 1.330, cache 45 with no AVX offset and temps are low 70's when stress testing. I can get it to 5.0, but it takes 1.350 and heats up to mid 80's when stress testing, which is ok, but I am more than happy with 4.9 and have not delidded.
Custom cable lengths are as follows: 24 pin 60 cm; 16 pin PCIE 60 cm; 8 pin EPS 70 cm; SATA power 45 cm (this is for the SSD on the front of the case. I didn't use a custom power cable for the SSD right under the GPU, but if you do it can obviously be a lot shorter)
I'll post more pics once it is set up before Christmas to show what it looks like in a darker room. Any questions, please let me know and I'll try to help!
